Believe it or not, there was a time when few people had heard of Bear Grylls!

 

Back in 2005, he was starting to make a name for himself in the world of extreme adventure - after breaking his back in a parachute accident, he had become the youngest Briton to summit Everest, and he had just finished mkaing a series for Diverse Productions calld `Escape the the Legion'.

 

Diverse felt that there was more...

 

So they asked me to go to Austrtia with him to shoot some action sequences and links for a taster comissioned by Discovery Channel.

 

We had a great couple of days based in the village of Turach - which included dropping Bear through the ice of a frozen lake and filming him getting back out again.

 

Seems Discovery quite liked what they saw, but by the time they had comissioned the first series I was already working on other projects, and apart from edit producing a programme several years later, I never worked with him again!!!!
